ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) or IMPLANTABLE CONTACT LENS:

ICL, also known as the Implantable Collamer or Contact Lens, is a type of refractive procedure to help correct the most common visual problems, myopia (short sightedness), hyperopia (long sightedness) and astigmatism.
Simply put, ICL is a removable lens implant that is an attractive alternative to LASIK and other refractive procedures.
ICL is a soft, flexible lens that is positioned in your eye between the iris (coloured part of the eye) and your natural lens.
ICL can be described as additive vision correction. Unlike other procedures, ICL procedure does not remove the corneal tissue, but works in harmony with your natural eyes to provide exceptional quality of vision.
ICL is a lens implanted inside the eye without having to remove corneal tissue or the natural lens allowing natural accommodation to remain (able to focus on a near object).

Frequently Ask Question

What Can I Expect During The Procedure?
Before you schedule your EVO appointment your doctor will perform a series of standard tests to measure your eye’s unique characteristics for the procedure. If you are farsighted, your doctor may recommend or schedule an additional pre-op procedure.

The main risk is the development of cataract over 10 years after the surgery, in less than 1% of the patients, for which patients might need to have cataract surgery to improve the vision. Eye pressure may increase in 5% of the patient, however, the surgery is reversible and the lens could be removed if needed.

ICL can be used for myopic (short sighted) patients aged between 21 to 60 years old and for hypermetropic (long sighted) patients aged between 21 to 45 years old.
